What are the process of immigrating to Canada from India?
As we have already mentioned in our earlier blogs here, Canada is one of the most coveted destinations for settling in permanently for people looking to migrate. Of course,
there are multiple reasons why this is the case.
To begin with, Canada has been ranked as one of the most peaceful countries in the world. The cities of Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto are among the most livable cities in the world.
It invites people not only looking to move abroad, but also migrants looking to settle and blend in its great weather, comfortable lifestyle and an enviable quality of life. For the ease of
immigrating, Canada has the most comprehensive set of immigration policies.Whatever be your profession, the fair and simple immigration norms make your entry into the country
We should be happy to note that between 2019 and 2021, Canada is set to welcome more than one million immigrants through its various immigration programs. It should be noted
that in order to obtain a Permanent Residency in Canada there are various active pathways and immigration processes which one can choose. The process for each of them are
described below along with the other necessary details. Interested candidates are requested to go through them once in order to gain more clarity on the processes of
immigrating to Canada.
Express Entry System - This path was introduced in 2015 by the Federal Government of Canada. Not only this is the most popular immigration process chosen to secure a permanent
residency in Canada, but it is the most comprehensive way to submit your application. This system mainly looks and manages applications based on the various economic migration
programs. The three main economic migration programs are as follows -
(i) Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
(ii) Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
(iii) Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
On top of this, the Express Entry System has given the freedom to various provinces and territories to use this system to invite more skilled and talented foreign professionals as part of
their separate provincial programs for nominee. Yes, I am talking about the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), described in depth below.
For people looking for opportunities to migrate to Canada from India, the immigration process of PNP is gaining more popularity. Various Canadian provinces have their own set of
immigration programs to make foreigners migrate from various parts of the world. The provinces like Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Manitoba are the ones which
normally follow this. What the candidates have to do under this program is to live in that particular province for a particular period of time, after which they can apply for PR in Canada.
But one thing that the applicants have to keep in mind, under this program, is that they have to have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
While describing about the PNP program, a special mention has to be put on the Quebec Immigration. Among all the provinces in Canada, Quebec enjoys the most autonomy in
generating the visa requirements for skilled professionals and workers. Those looking to apply under this program have to obtain a Certificat de Sélection Québec (CSQ), only after
can submit an application for permanent residence under the Federal Government of Canada. The main advantage of applying under this program is that it is really unique in the way it offers multiple visa pathways that are not offered by the other Canadian provinces.
Now taking a look at the other programs and systems, we have the below -
Atlantic Immigration Pilot - Launched in 2017, this is a unique immigration program for the fact that it allows employers from the Atlantic provinces to invite or hire foreign nationals,
without obtaining a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). This program aims to grant the local employers the authority to hire qualified foreign nationals, who will be benefited by
being able to submit their applications for permanent residency and their subsequent settlement in Canada. The provinces which are under this program include Newfoundland and
Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. This program has a target of inviting around 4000 newcomers by 2020.
Family Sponsorship - Given the impetus that Canada has always put on family-reunification programs for so many years, this is one such program whose sole aim is to reunite family
members. Under the purview of this immigration process, original Canadian citizens and permanent citizens can sponsor their spouses, children, parents, grandparents,
common-law partners and other dependents etc.
Entrepreneur Program - This is the go-to program for an entrepreneur or businessman who is looking to expand his business in Canada. This program allows investors with high net worth to establish a business in Canada
and then apply for permanent residency there. But in order to be eligible under this immigration process, the applicant must be able to furnish the details related to his available funds
for investment in the business and his/her intention to invest in the Canadian economy.
Taking a look at the above programs, we can very well make out that it is not a cake walk to get the PR. One has to decide in which program he/she can frame himself/herself in and of course,
then prepare accordingly to get the job done. But all the effort seems a tad bit difficult to begin
with. So here's to give you some more reasons which should drive you towards your goal.
Canada has been judged as one of the best countries to live and settle in. The standard of living there is second to none, to be honest. Another reason why Canada can be considered
as a chosen country for immigration is its friendly attitude towards its migrants. The foreign people are never made to feel as if they are outsiders really. Canada, being rich in culture
herself, never try to force its culture on the migrants. People are free to follow one’s own culture freely
there without any fear. This is something which sets Canada apart from the lot. All in all, Canada is a safe country to settle and raise a family. The last point,
I would like to highlight here, is of the plenty of government entitlements and other benefits (education, medical, etc) which one can claim for being a permanent citizen there in Canada. This is an added advantage being a Canadian citizen.
So, there you go! The above piece should give you a brief idea on how you should start your immigration process to Canada and also why you should look for it.
